What is "Dark
Fiber"?
"Dark fiber" is
the fiber optic highway. It is the fiber network to which others connect
their electronics. The POP connects electronics on one end to the
customer's electronics on the other end. A telecommunication company owns
the road in between.
Microcom.net, Inc. first
ran fiber for a client company. By running fiber to a local ISP and
leasing bandwidth from them, we were able to link the client's facilities
all across the state.
We have the equipment and
the know-how to install, splice, and terminate fiber. We now service
banks, retirement homes, accounting offices, police departments, city
offices, and a plethora of other businesses. We are always looking for new
ways to provide Internet access to the desktop for offices, homes, and
home offices.
